Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming town situated in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't been aware of it frequently think it is a separate, west-facing island. It is often cited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was not long. Brugel was raised in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. The first goal she had was to pursue a career as an actress however, after a rapid expansion, she and her partner could no longer dance with her. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet 1 inches." The moment I outgrew any male partner then I slowed down. A lot of dancers go from dancing to acting. For the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who encouraged her to go in this direction. The teacher recommended that she audition for an annual school play. She auditioned and was eventually cast as the lead for the role in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. Over the last 20 years, her work has been featured on both the large and small screen. The most notable was her fame when she was offered the character of Rita on the award-winning TV show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian in the Season 1 actors of the series and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
